Repairing a Fiberglass Crack

The key to a lasting crack repair is locking the new material to the old. We start with a clean surface, then make a mechanical bond by drilling small holes around the edge of the repair. That gives the new resin something to grip.

Next we mix the resin and hardener in small amounts, matched to the room's temperature so it cures right. We lay down a base of resin, then a layer of chop mat, and wet it through with a brush. The same is done on the underside to finish the repair.

Repairing a Fiberglass Hole

A hole needs a backing to build on. We tape the area and shape a piece of sheet metal to the curve of the part, so the new layers follow the original shape. Then we build up resin and mat over it until the hole is closed.
